Fishing

Roy Lake remains a favorite of fishermen who enjoy the solitude and feeling of being in the real outdoors. For the ardent angler, Roy Lake produces nice catches of bullheads, perch, bluegills, walleyes, crappies, northern pike and large and small mouth bass. The lake level is the highest its been in 20 years with over 1 million fish stocked in 1993 and

Roy Lake has re-claimed it's reputation as the premiere fishing lake in South Dakota as written in Sports & Field and Field N' Stream.

Hunting

Roy Lake and the surrounding glacial lakes provide prime locations for waterfowl, deer, and turkey. Roy Lake is in Marshall County which has the most public hunting areas in eastern South Dakota (apprx. 55,000 acres).

Roy Lake is also 20 minutes from North Dakota which also has excellent hunting.

Things to Do!

The high-quality fishing, fine sandy beaches, clear water and scenic attractions make Roy Lake a popular destination for vacationers and business retreats.

Because there are such a variety of activities, many guests spend their entire vacation or stay in this one area.

• Some activities that are available are hiking at Sica Hollow State Park, which is a truly wild and beautiful part of S.D. that can be thoroughly enjoyed! 

• Get saddled up and plan a trail ride with Art Borgen at Canyon Ranch!

• Or golf at the 3 golf courses located within 1 to 20 miles of the Resort, or visit the Indian cultural center and museums including Fort Sisseton for a truly enjoyed travel back in time to the time of civil war soldiers, muzzle loaders and other historic memories.

• We have recently had the addition of a 9 hole Frisbee Golf Course and is filled with family fun.

Winter Sports!

The lodge is located a mile from the Glacial Lakes snowmobile trail which covers 73 miles, primarily in the backcountry, meandering through many of the lakes in this area. One of the best trails outside of the Black Hills.
