2011 Spring Fishing & Ice Off

Ice is pretty much off Roy but with today's expected temperatures, I expect it to be completely off Roy by the end of today (April 25 2011). As of this morning we just have some lingering patches of soft ice.

Pro and TV fisherman Al Lindner is coming in either today or tomorrow to do some filming on Roy and I would also suspect he will be the first to fish on Roy this spring with Ice off unless someone beats him out there today. So the fishing bite at this moment is kind of a guess but do expect it to be another successful open water season!

Also, just a another little snip bit about Spring Fishing. As Ice off continues and the same with every spring, floating debris caused by ice is hazardous.

We have noticed already quite a few floating logs and downed dead trees so make sure to always be cautious and observant in your treks across the lake in your boat. It will probably take a couple of weeks before these trees safely drift ashore.

Thanks for the info. Is this late in the spring for the ice to be coming off? We will be up there in a couple weeks and can't wait to whack some giants. Please let us know how Mr. Linder does.

No problem! Typically this is pretty late for ice off. We have had some warm days and then below freezing nights which delayed the typical time frame that ice off happens (whcih will normally be in the beginning of April).

Due to this late ice off and some bad weather that came through earlier this week Al Lindner had pushed back his show and arrival to next week.

And yes! The minute we get some photos of his catches we will get them posted up!

RLR, Unfortunately I have been on the dangerous side of the floating debris down the river and was almost deadly. Luckily we had friends nearby to help us out. Im excited to see the photos as well!
