SPRING 2009 RESORT REPORT
By RLRstaff @ 8:47 AM :: 1591 Views :: 0 Comments :: Article Rating :: Fishing Reports, Bird Hunting, Miscellaneous, Tips

I think it has been a long winter for all of us, lots of cold weather and moments of lots of snow.  Now it is coming to an end and open water fishing, leaves on the trees and green grass really look good.  To go along with that I have included some pictures of previous springs, one of each species so I don’t load any ones computer down.

We still have ice and if you are thinking of catching last ice a couple of thoughts:  I certainly would bring an open-faced reel/rod…does that tell you anything.  Also, about 10 days ago the ice was black then we got 10-12 inches of snow so we don’t really know the condition of the ice.  I am thinking we might get lucky and see ice off in about 10 days.  The combination of deteriorating ice and heavy snow on top of it, plus several days of good sun melting the snow onto the ice bodes well for my prediction.  I must tell you that I don’t think people well put much money on my prediction.

Northerns are close to spawning, a lot of the time they spawn under the ice, then walleye will follow.  So, I would be looking at the end of April 1st of May for Spring fishing to get going.  We will be ready as we carry bait and I am also going to carry Lakemasters maps and gps chips.  This will make it easier as you explore 48 lakes 5-20 minutes from roy lake.

Also, we have two varieties of Turkey, Merriam and Eastern and lots of big ones.  If you are interested in hunting turkey, give me a call and I can give you the information for licensing and reservations.

Don’t forget about Family Recreation.  We are also a great family place with nice and clean cabins, docks for boats and fishing, boat rentals, lake front dining, groceries, bathing beach, canoe rentals, Frisbee golf and playgrounds for kids.  And for dads we have the fish cleaning station.  So we are set.

Look forward to seeing you,
